Safety and relief valve test
The valve is the last line before a vessel fails. Its interval is set by the written scheme and the competent person; give them the acoustic and lift-assist data and let them extend it.
- Condition that replaces the interval
- Partly. Acoustic monitoring detects a passing or lifting valve and the set pressure can be verified in place with a lift-assist device, which can extend the interval where the written scheme allows.
- Reading that proves it
- Set pressure, reseat pressure, seat tightness, lift-assist test result
- Why the interval stays
- Test intervals are set by the pressure system's written scheme of examination (PSSR in the UK), AS/NZS 3788 and API 576 practice; the competent person can extend them on evidence, but not remove them.
- Evidence an auditor accepts
- Test certificate per valve with set and reseat pressures and the next test date
- First move
- Tag every safety valve with its set pressure and test date; an untagged valve is an unproven one.
