Safety instrumented function proof test
The interval is a term in the probability of failure on demand calculation. Diagnostics and partial stroke tests are credited in that calculation, which is the only legitimate way to lengthen it.

- None that removes the interval. Partial stroke testing of the final element and transmitter diagnostics give diagnostic coverage credit that can lengthen the proof test interval in the SIL calculation, but the full proof test stays.

- Proof test intervals for safety instrumented functions are set by the SIL verification under IEC 61511 and must be performed as calculated; changing them requires re-verification of the safety case.
