Fire alarm weekly test and periodic service
The weekly test proves the whole chain works, sounders included, and no sensor proves that for you. The panel fault log is still worth logging as evidence because it shows the days between tests were clean.
- Condition that replaces the interval
- None that replaces the interval. The panel self-monitors device faults and open circuits continuously; log those events as evidence between tests.
- Reading that proves it
- Panel event log entry for the test, device tested, time to sounder activation
- Why the interval stays
- Weekly call-point test and periodic service are set by BS 5839-1, AS 1851 and NFPA 72. The panel fault log supplements the test record; it does not replace the weekly test.
- Evidence an auditor accepts
- Fire log book entry per weekly test (call point used, result) and the six-monthly or annual service report
- First move
- Rotate the call point used each week and record which one; that is what the inspector asks for.
